Albania has a new world champion! Enkileda Carja made history by winning three gold medals at the U17 World Weightlifting Championships held in Lima, Peru — the first time ever for Albania at this level.
Competing in the 64kg category, the young lifter from Elbasan dominated the stage, taking gold in the snatch, clean & jerk, and total, while breaking three European youth records in the process.
Carja lifted 98 kg in the snatch, earning a bronze medal behind two Chinese athletes, but still managing to set a new European U20 record, previously held at 97 kg. She followed with an incredible clean & jerk performance, successfully lifting 110, 113, and 115 kg.
Her 213 kg total secured the overall gold and crowned her triple world champion.
Albania’s Minister for Youth and Children, Bora Muzhaqi, celebrated the historic win, writing: “Congratulations Enkileda Carja – Triple World Champion and our red-and-black pride! Enkileda raised the Albanian flag higher than ever before.”
