The first Albanian School in Staten Island, part of the “Alba Life” network in New York, opened its doors for the 2024-2025 academic year. This school, which has been operating for 18 years, is part of a broader mission to teach Albanian language, history, and culture to children in the diaspora. The founders, including director Qemal Zylo and teachers licensed both in Albania and New York, welcomed students and parents with great enthusiasm.
In addition to Staten Island, Albanian classes will soon begin in Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, and online. The school’s mission is to preserve the Albanian language and culture for the younger generations, despite the challenges of maintaining these traditions in the diaspora.
