The city of Tirana will soon feature “Qatar Square,” a new urban development funded by a €11 million investment from the Qatar Development Fund. This square will cover an area of 23,700 square meters at the northern end of Tirana’s New Boulevard, close to the Tirana River. The project is designed to be a vibrant public space with facilities for events, exhibitions, and community gatherings, alongside commercial areas and green spaces.
The square’s design will be influenced by traditional Qatari Sadu weaving, reflecting cultural ties between Albania and Qatar. As part of the broader New Boulevard project, Qatar Square is envisioned to become a key cultural and social hub, contributing to the area’s transformation into a lively and attractive destination.
In addition to its cultural significance, Qatar Square is expected to drive economic growth in Tirana. Plans include the construction of 25,000 new homes around the square, which will create numerous job opportunities and stimulate the local economy.
