President Joe Biden of the United States has sent a congratulatory telegram to Kosovo’s head of state, Vjosa Osmani, on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of independence.
In the letter, Biden wrote that the U.S. continues to support the EU-mediated dialogue to achieve a comprehensive normalization agreement with Serbia – which he calls “an important step towards mutual recognition.”
The President of the United States encouraged Kosovo’s leadership to fulfill all its obligations, including all past agreements reached through this process.
“In the coming year, I look forward to continuing to work together to build inclusive economic growth, strengthen democratic institutions, and advance the rule of law. I also eagerly anticipate our continued cooperation on security and joint efforts to advance necessary reforms to ultimately achieve Kosovo’s goal of EU integration. Together, we will continue to stand up for freedom – including standing together with Ukraine against Russia’s brutal aggression,” the full letter from Joe Biden, shared by the Kosovar Presidency with the media on 02/16/2024, states.
