Serbia supporters displayed fascist slogans and aimed racist chants towards ethnic Albanians during their side’s match against Switzerland on Friday night.
But FIFA did not fine the Serbia’s national football team or its supporters. On the contrary, it banned the Albanian Flag to wave on the stadium during the match.
Regarding this, legislator Vedat Gashi did not spare criticism for FIFA.
“FIFA may have bigger moral issues to wrestle with BUT equating the Albanian flag with racist & fascist flags, chants and symbology is terrible. Choosing to ENFORCE the ban on the national flag more than racism/fascism is abhorrent. Absolutely shameful.” – wrote Gashi on Facebook.
