Edmond Çami is an Albanian who was born in the city of Pogradec 30 years ago. But the situation in the state where he comes from was the reason why his family started applying for the DV American Green Card Lottery.

Fortunately for them, they won and immigrated in 2002 to New Jersey and now he lives in South Carolina. However, his childhood was very difficult as he failed to finish the second grade because he did not know the English language.

Despite this, he started working as a substitute teacher, before discovering his talent in another profession.

“I wanted to be a teacher, I was a substitute teacher for a few years. I liked it, but teachers don’t make much and the degree wasn’t worth it. I started working at a comedy club selling tickets and they had comedy classes and I decided to join. Immediately after that, I realized that I love this profession” says Çami.

He took lessons in comedy courses from Jamie Morgan and Eric Grady, who are good friends of his who helped him a lot.

Today, he performs in many states of the United States of America.

“I mainly perform in South Carolina and North Carolina. I also perform in Florida, Michigan, Nevada and California. I perform 4-5 times a week. Most people like the jokes I make about Albania, because they don’t know about our culture and traditions” adds the Albanian comedian from Pogradeci.

Edmond Çami’s goal is to collaborate with other Albanian comedians, from whom he has received support.

“My goal is to tour the country making people laugh, but I would also like to work with Albanian comedians and actors like Bes Kallaku and Drilon Hoxha. I received a lot of support from many Albanian celebrities such as Bes Kallaku, Irgen Cela, Ledio Lako, Ermal Peci and many others” – Çami told Atlantiku.
