Wikipedia Shqip is the Albanian version of Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. It was launched on October 12, 2003 and today contains 84,185 articles. Albanian Wikipedia has the 75th place according to the list of Wikipedias.
Currently, there are 145,120 registered users on the Albanian Wikipedia, 9 of them are administrators and three are bureaucrats.
Wikipedia is a free international online encyclopedia written and maintained by a community of volunteers through a wiki-based editing system.
The first steps to create a free encyclopedia were taken in January 2001. This encyclopedia, as well as many similar projects in different languages, is administered by the American parent foundation, the so-called Wikimedia Foundation. There are also similar foundations in France and Germany. The Albanian version of this free encyclopedia exists under the address: http://sq.wikipedia.org.
