On October 18, the European Council is expected to discuss visa liberalization for Kosovo.
Despite the fact that the Parliament and the Commission have given the green light several times, this issue was blocked by France and the Netherlands.
However, it seems that there are finally positive movements from these two skeptical states.
“What I can say is that France is not a country that can block that issue. I also think that the Netherlands has moved a lot. I know other countries will be ready as well. But some countries have elections and some others don’t even have a government at the moment. So will this be enough to push the issue? I don’t know, but the people I spoke with are very optimistic,” said Viola von Cramon.
The rapporteur for Kosovo in the European Parliament met on Wednesday with the special emissary for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak.
, Viola von Cramon, neither denies nor affirms that there is a new framework for the agreement between the two states.
“Well, even if these are speculations, any speculation can be a little true. However, I cannot confirm them,” Von Cramon said.
But how cautious is the European Union towards Serbia’s latest agreement with Russia?
“I saw that there were many critical voices. I know there is great frustration in all the EU institutions. Why does Serbia act like this? I can’t give you any answer for that. I hope there will be a proper reaction. Not only the condemnation of the act, but eventually the suspension of the EU membership talks,” she said.
Serbia is the only country in the Western Balkans that has not imposed any sanctions on Russia.
