In the 40th edition of the International Seminar on Albanian Language, Literature and Culture, there will be no participants from Russia, said the director of the seminar, Shkumbin Munishi.

The 40th edition of the Language Seminar will be held from August 15 to 26.

Munishi, in an interview, which will be published in the following days, said that this year, due to the Russian occupation of Ukraine, they have asked the institutions to receive instructions regarding whether Russian citizens should be allowed to participate.

“Unfortunately, and I consider it as something that is not right at all, we still have not received an answer about this work and practically we have not answered the seminarians who traditionally came from Russia”, he said.

Mundshi added that he has seen that other European countries have also suspended the participation of Russian schoolchildren and students in various activities, but he said that the Kosovo authorities should deal with the permission or not of the participation of Russian citizens.

In the past, various professors from Russia have participated in the Language Seminar, which is held in Pristina.

One of the participants in the past seminars was the Russian albanologist, Alexander Rusakov.

Rusakov, professor at the Department of Albanian Language at the University of St. Petersburg in Russia, in an interview in March of this year, said that Russia’s war against Ukraine is a “criminal war”.

“It is a criminal war on the part of my government, on the part of Russia. “Yes, because it is an aggressive war against a smaller state that poses no danger to Russia,” he said.
