North Macedonia has donated tanks to Ukraine, which, according to the Army and the Ministry of Defense, are third-generation tanks, and considering the development of technology, they are considered non-competitive and incompatible.

The authorities have not specified how many tanks have been donated to Ukraine, but they make it known that in the following period funds should also be spent on the disposal of the other tanks they have at their disposal, as they are considered useless for the army.

“The Republic of North Macedonia, as a reliable member of NATO, in accordance with its allies and partners, respecting the territorial integrity, sovereignty and right of self-defense of Ukraine, strongly condemning Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, decided sending aid to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, with amounts of material resources”, the announcement of the Ministry of Defense states.

North Macedonia has previously donated medical equipment and other aid to the civilian population to Ukraine.

In the statement of the ministry, it is said that North Macedonia in the next period will transform, namely, it will disband the tank battalion and start building modern anti-tank capacities.

It is also said that the project for the procurement of light armored vehicles is ongoing, according to the 2019 agreement between the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia and the United States of America.

From the first days of the Russian aggression, North Macedonia has supported the government in Kiev, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, while supporting all decisions on sanctions against Russia.
